What is NLP

What is NLP, first, forget the name, it is a manufactured concept which does not do the science and art which is the core of NLP any Justice
It could just as easier be called “The Simple rules for living” or “grandmothers ideas of the world”.

The basic principle behind NLP is to discover:
• How people learn things so that we can teach them better.
• How people do clever things so we can do clever things.
• How people make lots of money so we can make lots of money and so on.

The cleverness comes from the way we do all of these things, it is not just a matter of copying others as that nearly always fails it is more a matter of understanding how others think and thus how they achieve their results. How we can obtain those results without having all the trial and error that the other people inevitably go through.

In other words the secret to instant success.

Now as with all learning you can’t just cut to the chase, you have to understand the steps that lead you to a thorough understanding of the subject. When you learn a language you don’t start with a conversation in that new language. You start with the alphabet or the building blocks and then learn how to put them together.

So NLP is the language of the brain, it is the how, of the results you see.

So we need to start with an understanding of how information of all types gets into the brain in the first place. Once there, what does the brain does with this information. This is sometimes called processing or the art of deciding what is needed and what is not needed. What gets you to your desired result and what of this information is unnecessary to your needs.

So, once we have discovered the rules of the brain – so to speak – we can then move on to finding some processes that we can use, incorporating the rules of the brain. We also know that because of the vast variety of ways a human has arrived to this time of his life, that all the ‘rules’ are different for each individual. So by understanding another’s rules and incorporating them in our communication with him will enable our ideas to be acceptable to them and be received without question. This is called the language of influence.
